A founding partner and principal of RFP, Michael Walton is responsible for the acquisition, asset management and disposition of a variety of structured financing transactions, including senior bridge financing, mezzanine debt investments, joint venture equity and large portfolio loan acquisitions. He has originated, structured and closed over $1 billion in real estate transactions, including retail, office, industrial, residential and hospitality nationwide. He is also responsible for strategic planning and investment at the firm and is a senior member of the investment committee. As part of expanding the RFP platform, in 2004 he created a $175 million joint venture with a large New England based hospitality investor to acquire sub-performing hotel loans and investment in other value-added hospitality transactions. Prior to forming RFP, he was a Vice President at Congress Realty Group where he was responsible for the asset management and disposition of a diverse portfolio of real estate assets requiring extensive expertise in capital restructuring, bankruptcy and civil litigation. He started his 23 year real estate finance career at the First National Bank of Boston as a construction loan officer. He earned a Bachelor of Science with honors in Business Administration and Finance from Boston University. Mr. Walton is a member of the Urban Land Institute, The National Association of Industrial and Office Properties and the Real Estate Finance Association. |
